The best plants for your living room

by Cheryl Caldwell 06/10/2024

If you're interested in adding some greenery to your indoor environment, consider plants for your living room. There are plenty of options to fit space and aesthetic requirements, all while livening up your home. Here are some great ideas for plants in your living room:

Large plants to make a statement

  1. Parlor palm: Parlor palms can add a lush, tropical vibe to your living room. They're also very simple to care for, easily adapting to a variety of different lighting conditions. These palms can grow as tall as ten feet indoors.
  2. Bird of paradise: Bird of paradise is a truly impressive plant with long, paddle-shaped leaves. While they don't often bloom indoors, these plants can grow over six feet tall and make the perfect addition to a sunny living room window spot.
  3. Rubber tree: Rubber trees are another excellent option for rooms with bright, indirect light. Given enough sun and regular watering, these plants can grow quickly to reach the ceiling in a few years.

Small plants for tables & shelves

  1. Chinese money plant: The Chinese money plant is named for its abundance of round leaves resembling coins. These plants make exceptional centerpieces or end-table additions in a living room with bright indirect light.
  2. Snake plant: Snake plants are perfect for lower-light living rooms, and are among some of the easiest plants to care for. Place a small snake plant on a table or shelf and enjoy its bold, sword-shaped leaves and low-maintenance routine.

These are only a few suggestions of plants for your living room. Consider these options if you're adding living decor to your space.
